Who is the Complications Mastery Program Intended for?

Admissions to Empire Medical Training are open to licensed healthcare professionals, including physicians, dentists, and nurses authorized to perform injection procedures. Prospective participants are encouraged to check with their respective licensing boards to determine eligibility for performing these procedures in their practice. For individuals who are not licensed healthcare professionals, participation is limited to observational learning through demonstrations of how these procedures are performed.

Course Details

This program (unlike other training) will not recite theory from a textbook or discuss obscure theoretical complications but instead will provide you with training in "real world" and statistically relevant complications that occur and effective methods to treat such conditions.

Physician Instructors: As with all Empire Medical Training courses, this course is instructed by practicing and highly experienced Physicians who specialize in Aesthetics and are practice owners. When learning topics that will affect your career and have such a dramatic impact on patient outcomes, would you trust this level of training with a less qualified instructor?

The program begins with training in pertinent facial anatomy with a focus on injection techniques to the face. Many practitioners have learned techniques involving "blind injections" so it is important to understand how to identify unwanted outcomes related to poor technique resulting from blind injections. Some outcomes may not be considered a serious complication but may still need to be "reversed" with agents such as Hyaluronidase that are very effective but proper training is needed to use safely and effectively.

Even after learning proper technique and using strict protocols for safe technique, you may still encounter patients that were treated by other practitioners who developed complications or a poor outcome. Complications vary in their severity and this program will provide you with detailed, up to date treatment protocols in the most common complications.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this program, attendees will have a thorough understanding of the following concepts:

Acquire the necessary knowledge to identify potential problems and complications associated with aesthetic injectable treatments.
Review crash kit recommendations and be able to educate patients pre-procedure and post-procedure to avoid unnecessary adverse events. Review education of the procedures with patients concerning informed consents, expectant management, and possible complications.
Learn appropriate preparation and administration for hyaluronidase (HA Fillers), sodium thiosulfate (Radiesse), or other medications needed such as antibiotics, steroids, heparin, nitro-paste etc.
Gain a full understanding in the use of microcannula injections and other injectable techniques for avoidance.
Understand the depth and placement of dermal fillers as well as avoidance techniques for facial and body areas of indication with fillers.
Reaffirm absolute and relative contraindications for aesthetic injectable treatments as well as comprehensive review for areas of adherence relating to these procedures.
Review anatomy and pertinent anatomical considerations for most commonly requested body treatment areas as well as the pre-procedure and post procedure instructions as well as treatment protocols for optimal results.
Learn management techniques for complications, adverse results, and suboptimal outcomes for facial and body contouring procedures.

Course Prerequisites

Empire's Complications Management for Injectables course has been designed for you to immediately identify medical complications as well as avoidance techniques for the injections; plunger pressure, patient pain, and injection pearls to follow. In addition, Empire has structured this course to further educate yourself and patients when a complication or adverse event is suspected and prepare you to effectively handle these events.

Detailed protocols and instructions are reviewed as well as follow-up procedures to ensure that you are delivering the very best care to patients. You will graduate from the program with a feeling of confidence that you are prepared to correct and manage unexpected or poor outcomes. The course will benefit all practitioners (novice or advanced injectors) to safely administer injectables within their practice and the knowledge to identify, diagnose, and treat possible complications with the highest degree of care.

This class will encumber all aspects concerning aesthetic injections for Botox, HA and Non-HA Dermal Fillers, Aesthetic Sclerotherapy and PDO Thread Placement. Pathways for further training in portable ultrasound devices, vein mapping, and facial topography are discussed. Empire Medical Training utilizes only board-certified physicians for the training who have years of experience performing these procedures within their practice and have extensive knowledge concerning aesthetic and medical complications that may arise. For courses with hands-on training, attendees will be in small group breakout sessions with live patients.
For courses with didactic training, attendees will participate in a comprehensive university-style lecture. Some courses will also feature anatomical models or live models to enhance the learning experience.

Breaks
