Micro needling promotes skin rejuvenation through a non-surgical procedure known as Collagen Induction Therapy.  This minimally-invasive treatment utilizes 12 microscopic needles that oscillates and vertically punctures the skin and stimulates a wound healing response within the body that encourages the healing process through the increased production of collagen.

The treatment is painless in that these needles do not puncture through the skin but only through the upper tissues of the skin (epidermis) for facial rejuvenation and creates micro injury sites.  Deeper facial indications (scar revision) require deeper injections and the process may require topical anesthesia in some patients. This process creates controlled wounding under the skin that stimulates your skin to heal itself and in the process produce collagen and elastin as well as fine wrinkles and scarring due to acne or the aging process.  The skin will naturally repair itself after these micro injury sites by producing new, smooth epithelium at the injury site and additional collagen which will result in improved texture and skin tone in addition to reducing or eliminating static rhytids and scars.

There is no destruction of tissue with micro needling, as the small micro channels produced in the epidermis will close very quickly and the skin will begin to healing immediately. Depending on the depth of the skin defect, you may see only redness or you may experience some pinpoint bleeding which stops almost immediately therefore eliminating any downtime with the procedure.

Micro needling eliminates the need for many collagen producing laser treatments and the results are long lasting.  In addition, the superficial micro-channels also allow for various topical gels, creams and serums to be absorbed effectively into the skin. Frequently Asked Questions

What is the time duration before patients see results?
Normally patients will see results immediately following the first treatment while more visible changes will occur of the course of several weeks (collagen remodeling).  The greatest results happen when the complete protocol (4-6 treatments) is completed at intervals of 4-6 weeks between treatments.  The area of treatment will continue to improve beyond the initial treatment periods for a span of 6-12 months when combined with the recommended post-treatment care.

Is there Downtime after Treatments?
Patients are able to continue normal daily activities immediately following the treatments.  Patients may experience a degree of facial redness/irritation (erythema) up to 24 hours post-procedure.  Multi-Peptide Growth Factor Serum, Cryo Mask, and Post Care Kits allow for patients to improve beyond the initial treatment and between treatments and allow for best results.  The Post Care Kit contains a Lipid Spray to initiate healing and Silicon Spray to form a protective barrier against external contaminants.

Is the Patient Painful?
The procedure is not painful if done properly but is dependent upon the depth of the rhytid or scar and the treatment intensity.  Micro Needling is relatively painless at lower needle depths; however the depth of penetration is critical for optimal results.

Are there Contraindications for Treatment?
There are very few contraindications for treatment, however pregnancy, the use of blood thinners or if you are susceptible to keloid scarring should not receive treatment.  Do not treat over keloid (hypertrophic) scars, active problematic skin, such as severe keratosis, raised moles/warts, Rosacia, Eczema, or Psoriasis.
