About Dr. Matthew
After conducting cardiology research at UCSF and Harvard, Dr. Otten began his medical career at Michigan State University. In 2010 he completed his Fellowship in Sports Medicine at Beaumont Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. He returned to Las Vegas and started two private practices. He has been an active member of the Las Vegas medical and sporting community. His aptitude for giving back to the community has extended to teaching medical students and residents, as well as being the team physician. Dr. Otten has been an Associate Professor of Sports Medicine for over ten years. He has built his Sports Medicine practice and reputation as one of the premiere physicians educated in and performing cutting edge treatments.
Dr. Otten has been a leader in the field of Orthobiologics, or Regenerative Orthopedics since completing his sports medicine fellowship. He continues to sit on faculty for international conferences, train physicians, lecture and perform clinical research to advance the field. Dr. Otten’s approach to medicine was enriched by his work and experiences with the Native Americans. He has always believed in the body’s ability to heal itself. His clinical work reflects his dedication to his patients. Dr. Otten has performed over 40,000 specialized orthobiologic procedures. Dr. Otten has been involved in clinical trials and has lectured throughout the United States on the developing field of Orthobiologics and Regenerative Sports Medicine.
He continues to be on teaching faculty for academic conferences. Most recently, he has co-authored and is the Principal Investigator for a multi-site IRB study using adipose tissue in the treatment of Orthopedics and Sports Medicine. Dr. Otten has an extensive experience in sports and athletics. He remains an avid fly fisherman, surfer, skier and rock climber. He was the team captain of the University of Oregon Rugby team and a ski instructor at Alpine Meadows/Squaw Valley. His professional career has focused on his patients remaining active and healthy. His weekends outside of his practice include working events such as the International Rugby games, Pro Surfing competitions, football events, MMA events, and even others such as, the Billboard Music Awards.
