Empire's dual-certification program gives Physician Assistants two of the most in-demand aesthetic and regenerative procedures in a single training course. PDO thread lifting addresses explosive patient demand for non-surgical facial rejuvenation, while PRP hair restoration serves the large and growing hair loss treatment market. Together, these skills dramatically expand your service capabilities and position you for premium compensation in aesthetic and regenerative practice settings.
Perform supervised PDO thread placements for midface lifting, jawline definition, and brow elevation, plus PRP scalp injections for hair restoration on live patients. Your procedural versatility as a PA means you develop competency in both techniques efficiently during hands-on training.
Master PDO thread types, barb configurations, vector planning, and tissue mechanics alongside platelet biology, centrifugation optimization, and hair follicle regeneration science. Understand patient selection criteria and treatment planning for both procedures to deliver optimal clinical outcomes.
Understand how thread lifts and PRP therapies fit within PA collaborative practice agreements and state regulatory frameworks. Empire provides procedure-specific scope guidance so you can confidently navigate the requirements for adding both services to your authorized practice capabilities.
PAs certified in both thread lifting and PRP hair restoration are exceptionally marketable. Practices seeking providers who can serve both facial rejuvenation and hair loss patients offer premium compensation packages, and the dual capability creates options across multiple practice settings.
Course Highlights
As a PA expanding your procedural skills, this dual certification in PDO threads and PRP hair restoration maximizes your training investment. These highlights demonstrate how the combined program enhances your clinical versatility and career opportunities.
Curriculum Highlights
Master essential techniques and protocols through our comprehensive, CME-accredited curriculum designed for physician assistants (pas).
Designed for Physician Assistants
PAs bring comprehensive medical training and clinical versatility that translates exceptionally well to procedural medicine. Adding aesthetic, pain management, or functional medicine skills allows PAs to increase their earning potential, expand their professional autonomy, and offer greater value to their supervising physicians and practice teams. The demand for PAs with procedural certification continues to outpace supply in the aesthetics and pain management markets.
Physician Assistants practice medicine under physician supervision or, in many states, through collaborative agreements that grant significant clinical autonomy. PAs are eligible to perform injectable aesthetic procedures, pain management interventions, and functional medicine treatments in most jurisdictions. The PA profession's team-based model and broad medical training make PAs exceptionally well-suited to expand into procedural medicine with the proper hands-on certification.
PAs receive CME/CE accredited certification upon completion. Credits are accepted by NCCPA for certification maintenance and by state PA boards for license renewal.

The course covers PDO thread scalp insertion, platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injection, ACell MatriStem technology, platelet-rich fibrin matrix (PFRM), low-level laser therapy (LLT), red-light therapies, microneedling, and pharmaceutical adjuncts including minoxidil, finasteride, dutasteride, spironolactone, cyproterone acetate, vitamins, nutraceuticals, and compounded formulations.
The course covers diagnosis and treatment of androgenic alopecia (male and female pattern baldness), telogen effluvium, alopecia areata, traction alopecia, PCOS-related hair loss, menopausal hair loss, and general hair thinning and shedding.
PDO threads stimulate hair restoration through collagen induction, neovascularization, and localized growth factor release when implanted in scalp tissue. The threads create a controlled micro-inflammatory response that increases blood supply to hair follicles and encourages dormant follicles to transition back into the active growth phase.
ACell MatriStem is a regenerative technology used in conjunction with PRP to enhance hair restoration outcomes. It provides an extracellular matrix scaffold that supports tissue remodeling and follicular regeneration when combined with platelet-rich plasma injection protocols.
This course provides 6.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits, jointly accredited through AKH Inc. and Empire Medical Training. Participants also receive access to the Empire Live Mentor program with bi-weekly Zoom support sessions after the course.
The course is designed for Medical Doctors (MDs), Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine (DOs), Dentists (DMDs, DDS), Nurse Practitioners (NPs), and Registered Nurses (RNs). Participants must have an active medical license, professional liability insurance for aesthetic procedures, and must complete pre-course online modules.
The course includes pre-course virtual training access, a comprehensive color training manual, hands-on practice with live models under supervision at a 5:1 student-to-instructor ratio, medicines and supplies, tutorial videos featuring physician trainers, Empire Live Mentor program access with bi-weekly Zoom support, and post-course resources including patient intake forms.
The medical hair restoration market exceeds $3.5 billion annually. Treatment values range from $1,000 to $3,500 per patient, with multi-session protocols generating recurring revenue. Hair restoration addresses a large, underserved patient population that is highly motivated and willing to invest in ongoing treatment.
In most states, PAs can perform both procedures under their collaborative or supervisory agreement with a physician. Thread lifts and PRP treatments fall within procedural medicine scope that many PA practice agreements cover. Some states with expanded PA autonomy allow even broader authority. Empire provides specific regulatory guidance for both procedures during the course to help you navigate requirements in your state.
PAs with both thread lift and PRP hair certification are significantly more marketable than single-procedure providers. Aesthetic practices, medical spas, and regenerative clinics can fill more patient appointments with one provider, making you more valuable. Dual-certified PAs command premium compensation and have access to practice settings that single-skill providers cannot access.
Thread lifts primarily serve patients aged 35-60+ seeking non-surgical facial rejuvenation — a rapidly growing demographic. PRP hair restoration appeals to men and women aged 25-65+ experiencing hair thinning or loss. These are largely distinct patient populations, which means your dual certification attracts a broader patient base and creates revenue diversification that protects against market fluctuations in either service category.
Supervision requirements vary by state. Some states grant PAs full independent practice authority, while others require a supervisory or collaborative agreement with a physician. In most aesthetic and pain management settings, PAs practice with significant clinical autonomy under an established collaborative arrangement. Empire's training equips you with the skills and certification; your specific practice structure depends on your state PA board regulations.
PAs with procedural certification are among the most sought-after hires in aesthetic medicine, pain management, and regenerative medicine. These skills command premium salaries — often 25-40% above generalist PA compensation — and open doors to practice settings and career paths that offer greater autonomy, income potential, and professional satisfaction than traditional PA roles.
Yes, Empire's courses provide CME/CE credits accepted by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) for certification maintenance. Credits also satisfy continuing education requirements for state PA board license renewal, ensuring your training investment serves double duty for professional development and regulatory compliance.
