Cosmetic & Laser Procedures for Primary Care

This Aesthetic program has remained one of Empire's most popular programs not only due to the increasing demand about learning these cash based procedures, but also because of the faculty who teach this workshop.

William McMunn, DDS, MD, BC Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon, and one of Empire's lead instructors, is joined by a well-rounded team of Plastic Surgeons and Dermatologists as additional instructors. This team of physicians and dynamic instructors create an atmosphere most conducive for attendees to learn with a very low instructor to student ratio.

One of the largest decisions to be made concerning integrating Aesthetics is to be able to define the services you wish to offer. The choices in creating an Aesthetics business or incorporate these service into your present practice are many and confusing.

The purpose of this program is to fully define the popularity of such procedures, define the procedures and protocols associated with the more popular cosmetic and laser procedures and give you the information in a concise manner where you can feel comfortable in the services you offer.

This overview course gives you the forms, consents, medical questionnaires, releases, and protocols you will need to have to start offering aesthetic services. Many physicians have different skill sets and have varying degrees of confidence in learning new procedures; therefore we have created this course to include all the didactic needed to offer a "standard of care" to your patients as well as "live demonstrations" for you to learn from.

The "live demonstrations" include BOTOX® and Filler injectable training, facial aesthetics, and a variety of the more popular cosmetic laser procedures you would perform.

Other aesthetic program such as mesotherapy, sclerotherapy, advanced acne treatments, weight loss, and wellness/HRT services will also be discussed in detail for physicians to understand the broad scope of aesthetics as well as the need to diversify in the services they will offer.

This program is not an "Introduction to Aesthetics" but may be so for many physicians. What you will learn and the materials you will take home with you will allow you to perform these cosmetic procedures. Depending upon your comfort level, you may wish to further educate yourself through our other comprehensive programs and specific (hands-on) procedure programs or expand your knowledge yourself. Again, the purpose of this course is to get you the information you need to perform these procedures safely and effectively to your patients and to make the physician comfortable in performing all or some of the procedures. Many physicians do not have the time or means to continue to take additional training and need the basics for these procedures so that they can immediately start to offer these services.

Aesthetics is a business, along with this concept you will get a better understanding of the cost, different approaches, marketing of, as well as the pricing and packaging of these services. Learn how you can make your other employees become a revenue producing center for your practice where they will be able to perform many of these procedures under your supervision. Understand how to incorporate these new aesthetic procedures or new retail business into your business and what services make sense to you from a capital standpoint as well as a risk/reward viewpoint. Gain the knowledge of knowing what to expect from a revenue aspect associated with each "cash basis" procedure and gauge your level of interest based upon the new revenue streams you can realize from your present practice.

Most aesthetic procedures are not difficult to perform but require a "standard of care" and understanding of the procedure. The primary purpose of this course study is to give you the confidence in knowing that Aesthetics is a viable option to any practice and the services offered can be easily integrated within your practice. The Cosmetic Laser Workshop specifically covers patient selection criteria, the initial evaluation, Techniques and demonstration in BOTOX® Cosmetic, Collagen and Fillers, Restylane® Treatment, and Hands-on training in Facial Peels, Lasers, Hair Removal, Microdermabrasion, Skin Resurfacing, and Tattoo Removal, as well as marketing and pricing strategies to grow your cosmetic practice.

Objectives

Upon completion of this program, the physician should be able to:

1. Learn to perform a comprehensive patient evaluation and determine which techniques will provide the most effective results.
2. Botulinum Toxin, Collagen and soft tissue fillers
   • Gain proficiency in these injection techniques through extensive didactic while using custom models and live patient demonstrations.
   • Learn which wrinkles and body areas that can be improved by these various injection methods.
   • Gain a true understanding of the facial areas of indication, storage, dilution, dosages, techniques, and setting patient expectations to ensure results.
   • Learn new advances and specifics about where and when to use fillers.
   • Become proficient in understanding the techniques of fillers, the various types of anesthesia available to your patients, and "pearls" you can incorporate to get the results your patients expect.
3. Facial Peels / Cosmeceuticals
   • - Learn to perform a variety of chemical peels on live patients and understand the need for patient skin care products.
   • Learn a step-by-step method to perform superficial and mid-level chemical peel.
   • Learn which "medical grade" chemical peel is right for which condition and Fitzpatrick Type Classification.
   • Learn the various office skin care programs and regimens available for retail by prescription only through your office.
4. Microdermabrasion
   • Learn specific techniques and how to perform microdermabrasion in conjunction with Chemical Peels.
   • Gain an understanding of the medical benefits of microdermabrasion and the "high demand" for these services.
5. Cosmetic Lasers
   • Learn to perform Laser Hair Removal, IPL, and various other specialty cosmetic lasers.
   • Learn how Lasers build Collagen, eliminate wrinkles, and improve patients' skin texture and appearance.
   • Lasers for Acne, Vein and Pigmented Lesions.
6. Marketing your Cosmetic Practice
   • How to start-up and market a cosmetic practice.
   • Learn how to successfully integrate these new procedures within your practice and integrate these procedures seamlessly without disruption or additional expense to your present medical practice.
   • How to price each specific treatment and provide package options.
   • How to create (6) figure revenue streams for your practice without the need for large "capital expenditures" on equipment.
   • Learn how to diversify your aesthetic procedures, increase interest outside of your practice, and continually expand your aesthetic offering and income from aesthetics.
